SBIR.GOV Online Tutorials

The online tutorials at sbir.gov feature courses designed to help interested parties learn more about the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and the Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) programs. From learning the nuances of each agency’s programs to figuring out how to calculate indirect rates, the tutorials cover all of the bases within the application process for federal funding. While some tutorials are broad and can be helpful to the novice, others are tailored to more seasoned SBIR/STTR awardees. 

Technical and Business Assistance (TABA)

As part of The John S. McCain National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2019, a new term for this assistance was introduced… “Technical and Business Assistance (TABA)”. Most agencies have introduced the term and increased limits in their FY19 and FY20 solicitations. Please refer to the solicitation from the agency to which you are applying for specifics as to if TABA amounts are in addition to the funding threshold or included in the maximum.

In order for the company to select its own vendor – it must include a request to do so at the time of proposal/application submittal, following the guidelines provided by the agency.
